Your profile

When you register for the site, you can create a profile. Other users will see your name, image and profile link next to any content you create, and clicking on your name will take them to all the content you’ve added to the site.

Only create a profile in your own name or that of a team member. Do not use pseudonyms or nick names and only use an image that is of you or your team member’s face.

If you don’t create any content, your profile won’t be visible on the site, so if you’re just signing up to contact someone or look around, you won’t be listed.

People and projects

People and projects are types of content you can create. You can create as many people and projects as you want, so if you want to list your staff, you can – they won’t need to sign up and create themselves (but remember to get their permission before volunteering them for anything!). See Terms of Website Use for legal details.

People

“People” listings are for offering skills. To create a person, you’ll need to complete the following form fields:

  • Title (mandatory) – this should be the person’s name
  • Sub header (mandatory) – a very brief description of the person – their job title, for example
  • Image – add a square image, around 500px by 500px if you can. This will be shown in the listing header.
  • Location – where is this person based, or looking for work?
  • Skills – list some of the skills this person has to offer. For example, you might list “design”, “writing” and “web development”. Separate the skills with commas.
  • Expiration date – you might only want your listing to show on the site for a little while. If so, pick when to expire the listing. If you don’t put anything in here, it’ll never expire.
  • Links – add some links. This might be your person’s website, their social networks, or some examples of their work. Make sure you give the links a useful title!
  • Email address (mandatory) – if people want to get in touch with this person, who should we send emails to? It might be you, or it might be a different email address.
  • Who are you – tell us a little about who you are and what you can offer.
  • What are you looking for – tell us something about the type of work you’re after. Do you want paid work, or volunteering opportunities? What sort of jobs?
  • More about you – tell us about your experience, past work and skills.

You can click “save as draft” at any point to keep a draft of your listing. Click “your profile” to see all the live, expired and draft content you’ve created, and to edit, delete or view it.

Projects

“Project” listings are for asking for help. To create a project, you’ll need to complete the following fields:

  • Title (mandatory) – what’s your project called?
  • Sub header (mandatory) – a very brief description of your project – for example “build us a website”.
  • Image – this image will be shown at the top of your project listing. It’ll be shown full-width, so something around 1000px wide would be best.
  • Location – where is your project based? It might be online, in which case you don’t need to add a location.
  • Tags – list some of the skills you’re looking for to help with your project. You might want someone who can “design”, for example.
  • Brief description – if we feature your project on the home page of the site we’ll need a bit of blurb to describe it
  • Expiration date – if your project has a deadline, you’ll want to remove your listing after this date so people don’t keep contacting you about it. If not, leave this blank.
  • Links – you can link to your project’s website, if you have one, or social media presence.
  • Email address – who should we send emails about this project to? This might be your address, or an info@ email address for your project.
  • Who are you – tell us who you are and a bit of background to your project.
  • What do you need – tell us what you’re looking for.
  • What can you give – are you offering to pay? Do you need volunteers? Can you pay in kind in some way?

You can click “save as draft” at any point to keep a draft of your listing. Click “your profile” to see all the live, expired and draft content you’ve created, and to edit, delete or view it.
